RWD; If after replacement of steering unit there are still issues with the power assist, inspect condition of the power steering pump. This pum has two internal valves that, if too much debris is in the system, can score the internal finish of the housing itself-the material in the housing is softer than the material used in the valves. If the valves damage the housing the pump will leak and restrict assist to the steering unit.
